While working out, it is very important to make sure you are getting enough rest in between each set.  When you are doing isolation exercises,  such as curls, shoulder raises and dips, you need to rest 1- 2 minutes in between each set. However, when you are doing heavy compound exercises, such as squats, bench and deadlift, you want to rest a bit longer than isolation exercises because you are exerting more energy with the heavier weight. I recommend resting 3 to 4 minutes in between each set for compound exercises.
